LS129 UV Irradiance Meter Module
LS129 UV Irradiance Meter Module
The LS129 is a digital UV probe module designed to integrate UV intensity and energy monitoring into equipment, production lines and automation systems. Its detector and controller are separate, allowing installation to suit the available space and measurement position; they may also be mounted together where appropriate. Typical applications include UV curing equipment, UV LED sources, UVC germicidal equipment and automated process monitoring.
Spectrum Versions and Selection
Evaluate UVALED, UVA or UVC versions according to the source spectrum. UVALED may suit UV LED curing applications; UVA may suit conventional UVA mercury lamps, exposure or aging sources; UVC may suit germicidal lamps and 254 nm mercury-lamp monitoring. Confirm the source center wavelength, power range, need for accumulated energy, installation space, communications and control-system requirements before selection.
RS485 / MODBUS Monitoring
The module uses an RS485 interface and MODBUS protocol. The communication address and baud rate can be configured for networked devices and data reading by a PLC, PC or HMI. For continuous monitoring, assess equipment temperature, cable routing and site conditions when planning installation.
Power and PC Commissioning
The stated supply range is DC 5–24 V. PC test software can be used for protocol commissioning, data reading and configuration checks. Integration with a PLC, HMI, database, control or real-time alarm system may require engineering development. Confirm the actual power supply, wiring and software compatibility against the current configuration and shipping documents.
Communication Parameters
- Protocol: MODBUS; default address 1, configurable from 1 to 247.
- Default baud rate: 9600 bps; selectable rates: 4800, 9600, 19200 or 38400 bps.
- MODBUS can read measurement data and configure the address and baud rate.
Probe Wiring Reference
Wire colors may vary by production batch. Verify the supplied documentation or confirm with Fulcrum before wiring; do not rely on color alone.
| Wire color | Function |
|---|---|
| Black (with heat-shrink sleeve) | Shield |
| Red | Power positive (DC 5–24 V) |
| Black | Power negative |
| Green / blue | RS485− |
| Yellow / white | RS485+ |
Optional Commissioning Tools
Tools are optional and should be selected to match the integration. Confirm the quoted and shipped configuration.
- Commissioning HMI: view probe data and set the communication address and baud rate.
- RS232 / RS485 converter: support protocol commissioning between existing equipment and a computer.
- USB adapter: convert RS485 to USB for PC data reading, engineering commissioning and initial integration tests.
Integration Notes
The LS129 is a UV irradiance meter module for equipment integration and online monitoring, not a general-purpose handheld inspection meter. For spot checks or field inspections, consider the LS125 multi-probe UV irradiance meter. For PLC, HMI or host-computer integration, assess protocol, power, mounting space and source spectrum. Contact Fulcrum for selection and system-integration guidance.
Software and Communication Resources
The LS129 supports RS485 and MODBUS and can be tested with commissioning tools or PC software. Contact Fulcrum to confirm the current software, protocol and wiring documentation version. View LS129 software and support resources.

Installation and Integration Overview
The LS129 is designed to be incorporated into UV equipment and production systems. Before installation, confirm the detector version matches the source spectrum, provide a stable DC 5–24 V supply, and plan the detector position, cable route and controller mounting location.
Commissioning Checklist
- Verify the ordered model (UVALED, UVA or UVC) and the applicable irradiance range.
- Check the wiring against the documentation supplied with the current production batch; wire colors can vary.
- Set a unique MODBUS address and a supported baud rate, then confirm communication with the PLC, PC or HMI.
- Compare readings with the intended operating conditions and establish the application's own alarm or process limits.
For spot measurements and field inspections, see the LS125 multi-probe UV irradiance meter. For system selection and integration questions, contact Fulcrum.
Software and Technical Support
Use the LS129 software and support resources for available setup materials. Confirm the current software and document revision with Fulcrum before commissioning. Final system design, alarm logic and connection to a database or host platform may require application engineering.
